About Public Knowledge Library
Based on the directives of the late Sultan His Majesty Qaboos bin Said – May he rest in peace; the Public Knowledge Library was established on 13th November 1990 as part of the Sultanate of Oman’s national celebrations of the 20th national day. The library strives to disseminate knowledge and intellect to the society; as well as, it aims to be distinguished in the field of knowledge. Through its diverse services, it targets students, researchers, scholars of different categories. Further, it provides them a collection of valuable information sources both in Arabic and English, as those sources represent different levels in order to match all different age-groups.
The current total number of books, in the library, is more than 24338. Besides, the library subscribes in a number of e-databases. Not only that, but it also receives hard copies of journals and magazines.

The library seeks to contribute in establishing an encouraging and supportive environment for scientific research and for the community; through providing them a diverse information sources, and enriching those sources with the participants’ contributions.


Library Section
Ground Floor: main reading hall, books collections, references, newspapers, magazines and a catalogue automated search.
First Floor: e-library, children library, Omani collection of books, thesis, events hall, and discussion room.
